Arrive Cochin airport/railway station and drive to Thekkady the picturesque spectrum of exotic flora and fauna. Thekkady is one of the finest wildlife reserves in India and spread across the entire district are picturesque plantations and hill towns that hold great opportunities for treks and mountain walks. This place is considered as a heaven for natural spices such as black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and clove. Go for a boat cruise on the Periyar Lake. Boating will take approximate 2 hours and you can also get rare glimpses of wild animals. Relax for the day and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 02: Thekkady - Border Hiking
Today get ready for a full day treking. The trekking starts at 8 o clock in the morning and ends in the evening. The route passes through undulating terrains. The trekkers could glimpse the lofty escarpments bordering the park watershed and the vast plains down below. Sight the animals like Gaur, sloth bear, elephant and birds & butterflies. The trekkers will go with two guides and an armed forest guard. Evening back to hotel and relax for the day. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 03: Thekkady Periyar Tiger Trail
Today go for a Tiger Trail. This Trekking Programme starts at 09.00 am on the first day and ends by noon on the second day. Normally about 20 km trekking distance will be covered and usually it takes about 4 hours to reach base camp. One may get a chance to encounter many indigenous Birds and mammals like Nilgiri Langoos, Sambar deer, Wild Boar, Indian Goat, Malabar Giant Squirrel, Elephants and Tigers. During the trek, one will be crossing grass lands, teak forest and a wide variety of tropical trees and flowering plants. The trekking groups are accompanied by armed forest guards with communication facilities and are geared up to face any emergency situation. Overnight stay at the tent.
Day 04: Leave Thekkady
Trek back to Thekkady and then proceed to Cochin airport/railway station for your onward journey.
